The lights on Eneco’s wind turbines can now be switched off remotely.
Wind turbines are constantly growing in Wallonia. And it is not about to stop, since their number should double by 2030 to meet the Region’s CO2 reduction objectives.
Improving the rate of acceptability of these large mills is therefore a major challenge for the operators of the sector. Third in importance in Belgium, Eneco has just presented a system that goes in this direction by drastically reducing one of the nuisances most often raised by local residents: visual pollution caused by the lighting of these infrastructures.
It is a hardware and software solution that makes it possible to meet the security requirements of the Defence – the luminous beacons signal the presence of wind turbines to army pilots during training and interventions – and to limit light pollution at the same time.
